If We’re Not Living Life On Purpose, What Are We Doing?

What does it mean to live a life on purpose? I suppose it’s up to interpretation. But I think of it like this: Appreciate the little things. Accept the challenges life throws you, and do what you can to make the world better than you found it.

We all have the choice to walk through this life on the whims of our impulses, yanked around by whatever tickles our fancy. But another way of living allows us to guide our direction and focus on what we wish to foster. It’s worth asking ourselves,

“If we’re not living life on purpose, what are we doing?”

Living a life on purpose means that we choose our words and actions intentionally. We think deeply and strive to do good throughout our days. It means we learn from our experiences, own our mistakes, and choose growth in lieu of comfort. It means that, for as many moments as we are gifted, we use most of them for good. The rest are for petting dogs and eating chocolate.

In all seriousness, to live a life on purpose is to make meaning out of our existence and to do what we can to leave this place better than we found it. In a way, to live a life on purpose is to nurture a sense of compassion, responsibility, and joy.

Imagine what the world would look like if we all did more of that!

I’ve been deep in my writing cave for a while now, turning over dozens of musings about living a life on purpose. I was bitten by the purpose bug and have surrendered to its journey.

It’s a bit scary, and its vision is more significant than I can comprehend without swooning, but I want to see where it leads me, so I’m just holding on for now.

“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.”

— Rumi

Our first stop is just ahead. In a matter of days, I will have the pleasure of introducing you to five incredible women who have recently written stories about living their lives with purpose in a new publication called Anon Gray | Print.

These women’s stories touch on creativity, family, loss, and purpose. They are inspiring and captivating, and some are even heartbreaking. Each voice explores a different facet of purposeful living and how, with a bit of intention, we can bring deep meaning into our lives.

The first volume of Anon Gray | Print will be available on Etsy in early April, 2023

The journey of a writer is primarily a solo endeavor. The peaks and valleys are only reflected in the writer’s mind. So when the opportunity presents itself to peek out from behind our grey matter and engage with other writers, it’s easy to feel at home.

“It helps us remember that we are united, connected, and far more similar than we are different.”

This can sometimes be to a writer’s detriment, derailing their focus. But more often than not, it leads to good things. It helps us remember that we are united, connected, and far more similar than we are different. It inspires us and motivates us to think outside the box. It reminds us of who we are and the value we bring to the table.

The publication includes women’s voices from around the world.

April 6th is around the corner. Mark your calendar. Set the alarm.

These won’t be available for more than a few days; once they’re gone, they’re gone. If you’ve enjoyed the thoughts and musings of my work in the past and are eager to be introduced to some beautiful new voices that carry the same messages of hope, grace, and purpose, you’ll love Anon Gray | Print.

P.S. A portion of all profits from the sale of this debut volume of Anon Gray | Print will be donated to the People’s Pottery Project. Be sure to follow Anon Gray on Etsy to be notified when this publication, and future publications, go on sale. Click the image below to be taken to Anon Gray on Etsy.
