The Ups And Downs Of A Nomadic Homebody On A Family Gap Year

It’s not as glamorous as it might sound…

Recently, my family and I embarked on a gap year — Yep. No work. No school. Just life. 😳

Unlike some gap year stories you may have heard, we aren’t filling ours with visits to a zillion countries or all the national parks in the United States.

Instead, we’ve dedicated our year to slowing down, exploring our passions, and venturing inward more than outward. In a lot of ways, it’s about reconnecting and recovering from the past five years.

That being said, despite our slower schedule, day to day life is still rather unpredictable, and my writing “schedule” looks a bit more like the disheveled closet of a chronic hoarder than anything akin to order or structure. 🥴

My book writing plans have, for the time being, exited stage left, and posting here has become erratic (at best). But the beautiful thing about exploring the many facets of living a life on purpose is that there’s always space for grace and grace is relevant any time of the year!

I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you that my subscribers hear from me more often. 💌

In my emails, I delve into the more intimate ups and downs that come with living life on purpose, and this year, in particular, I’m sure to be highly attuned to what it means and how it looks.

“It’s not about how much we can fit into a day, but how much day we can revel in.”

So if you’d like to get a more personal peek into our gap year, or you’d simply like to be notified when I post blog articles or publish my next zine or book, please consider subscribing below. 🙏🏽

And if you’re here because you want to get your hands on my book The Space Between, thank you! All profits go to a nonprofit organization supporting homeless populations in Seattle, Washington. You can purchase my book here, or in person at one of my favorite indie bookshops (only available in shop). 🫶🏽

If you’re still reading, thank you. And if I’ve piqued your curiosity, keep scrolling to read more musings of a nomadic introvert trying to live this beautiful, difficult life on purpose.

I hope to see you in my email inbox (or in the comment section below)! May your day be full of delicious food and wonderful people. ☺️

Hugs,
Kate
