On Making Plans & Taking Detours

Prefer to listen?

Failures and setbacks can look the same on the surface.

To begin with, they hurt.

They can make us question our worth,

And let’s be honest, they’re embarrassing as hell.

But that’s where the similarities end.

We only fail when we lose the lesson.

Everything else is just a setback.

Did you struggle to finish school on time?
Me too. But I kept going and finished in my own time.

Feeling defeated by a goal you set for yourself?
Me too. But I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’m still going.

Has your understanding of the world been shaken?
Me too. But I have faith that I will find my footing again.

Life doesn’t always go according to plan.

Scratch that.

Life rarely goes according to plan.

So whether you’re dealing with a scary medical diagnosis,
A family member who’s making life challenging,
Or just feeling grumpy because you spilled mustard on your favorite shirt, remember this…

Failure is a mindset, not an end point.

We all have those moments when were sure we’ve failed. And…
We all have the option of getting back up.

Re-evaluate, re-direct, re-start.

No need to pick up where you left off.
Head in a new direction. Take a different path. Do a U-turn.
Take what you’ve learned and apply it to your next best step, whatever that may be.

The living happens smack dab in the middle of the process.
In the steps we take.

The destination is just the icing on the cake.

Every failure you turn into a setback becomes a continuation of your story,

And your story is definitely worth continuing.
